Zu Gast: Ben Gibson – Dear Diary: Cultural histories remembered

(Cine Lecture, in Englischer Sprache)

Ben Gibson will talk about historical recollection and first person narrative in film, drawing upon his own history of independent production in the UK. In particular the diaristic fiction of Patrick Keiller and his film “London” plus the counter cultural Demi-mond of Francis Bacon and Queer London in the 1960’s as broad to the screen by John Maybury in “Love is the Devil”.

Ben Gibson (*1958 in London) arbeitete in den 80er- und 90er-Jahren als unabhängiger Filmproduzent an zahlreichen Filmen mit (u.a. von Derek Jarman). Gibson war Co-Director bei den Filmfirmen 'The Other Cinema' und 'Metro Pictures'. Er arbeitete von 1988 bis 1998 als Produzent beim British Film Institute (BFI). Von 2001 bis 2014 leitete er die London Film School. Seit Februar 2016 ist er Direktor der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb).
